hey all,

another photoless blog.

once again, i am feeling that tingly sensation in my gut, and it’s not something i ate. i’m about to propel myself back out into the world of touring (starting next week!) and i am sensing that something ominous is at foot.

there has been a major shift in gears with the life of this record, just in the last month or less. it always comes just when i begin to get complacent and think that i should be happy with my lot… BAM! news to the contrary.

monday was quite monumental for me in more ways than one. not only did i have to get out of bed at 6am, in order to play a show, but the show was The Morning Show on channel 7. that’s mainstream, kids! as if that weren’t enough, they requested that i play ‘accidentally kelly street’. now we all know how i feel about that, don’t we? i don’t know, the fact that they asked and some thoughts i’ve had about the song lately, made me think, ‘why the crying out loud not? it could be fun.’.

so there i was, back on the telly, singing kelly st. it didn’t hurt half as much as i’d thought it would. dan luscombe did a beautiful job with the song, which had a lot to do with my enjoyment in revisiting an old nemesis.

i didn’t lie when they asked me why i hadn’t played it in so long. i told them it was because i hated it. i don’t know if mainstream breakfast show hosts know what to do with that kind of information, but they did their best.

you can view dan and i performing, ‘stop buying things’, on YouTube.

now, this evening will be the debut of one very moving, very important campaign and i am very privileged to say that i will be singing the song they have chosen for it.

at 8.27pm, on channels 7, 9 and 10, the new campaign for the TAC (Traffic Accident Commission) will air.

(See it on YouTube, if you don’t live in victoria)

they asked me a couple of months ago, if i would be interested in singing the cure’s ‘pictures of you’ (!!!). i calmly told them i could see my way to doing that (I LOVE THAT SONG). but, when they showed me the footage and it had me crying in the boardroom meeting, i realised that i was going to be a part of something quite incredible.

once you see the ad, you will understand.

it has changed my driving habits forever… and i consider myself a conscientious driver. i hope it changes yours too.

i hope that all you cure fans approve of my version of such a sacred song. i would love to hear what you think. if you really like it, you might tell your local radio station, or maybe even your NATIONAL radio station, that you’d like to hear it.

you might also contact TAC and tell them what a beautiful ad they have made. i’m sure they and the families involved, would like the feedback.

much more news for you all, but it’s still in the works.

meanwhile, i am keeping up the good work, practicing guitar, teaching yoga and cooking the odd feast.

drive safely,
