Pictures of You availability

by Matthew Campagna; , .

Pictures of You, Angie’s cover of the classic song by The Cure, is now available on iTunes in territories outside of Australia, including the U.S. iTunes store. It has apparently been there for a while, though the news slipped by me somehow. There are no plans for a physical release of the song, making it download-only.

The digital single has been released with Don’t Be Shy as a b-side.

Be sure to leave positive reviews about the songs on iTunes!

Hart, McCormack Tour Oz

by Matthew Campagna; , .

Angie Hart and Dave McCormack will be on the road from this week, making their way up the East Coast, hopefully to a venue near you. The shows in intimate venues will be acoustic, with Angie visiting tracks from her debut long player, Grounded Bird, the new single, Pictures of You and also revisiting some songs from her earlier days.

Dave McCormack of Custard fame is also going out in acoustic mode. After 10 years with Custard, 2 albums with the Titanics and 3 albums with The Polaroids, Dave will be performing something old, something borrowed and something new.

Full details of the shows are below. Also, be sure to check out the Defamer’s goofy interview with Angie.

Pictures Of You hits Australian iTunes

Angie Hart’s beautifully spare and spectral version of The Cure’s Pictures of You carries a heady emotional power. The song has been stripped back to piano, strings, the barest of programming flourishes and Angie’s considered, affecting vocal.

Pictures of You is Angie’s first release since her critically acclaimed debut solo album Grounded Bird. That lovely, intimate record may have been Angie’s first solo album but it certainly wasn’t her first foray into the public consciousness. As vocalist with Frente, Splended, Holidays On Ice and now as solo performer, Angie’s distinctly gorgeous voice has often been imitated but never been bettered.

When the Transport Accident Commission needed a singular, evocative voice to soundtrack their emotionally weighted campaign highlighting the hidden victims of speeding, Angie Hart was the A three minute ad featuring Angie’s version of Pictures of You screened for three weeks early this year and had an unprecedented impact. The Pictures of You TAC campaign emphasises the deep emotional scars that speeding leaves on our community. Ten ordinary Victorian families volunteered to share their hearts and stories for one reason; they didn’t want anyone to endure the pain their families have experienced.

iTunes Plus offers songs as … DRM-free music tracks featuring high quality 256 kbps AAC encoding for audio quality virtually indistinguishable from the original recordings.

Those sitting on a pile of 128kbps MP3s may want to have a look. Amongst the iTunes Plus, Angie Hart related offerings are:
