Sand, a tune co-written by Angie Hart and Ben Lee five years ago, is due to appear in Australian filmmaker Nash Edgerton’s THE SQUARE, according to and Undercover article recently published. Edgerton approached Lee to score the film.
“Nash sent me the script to the Square and I really, really loved it. I stayed up reading it from midnight until the early hours as it was such a page turner,” Lee said in a statement.
“I loved how its darkness was juxtaposed against a large romantic element – it was really tense yet had a romantic heart. I knew immediately that this was a project my music was truly suited to – not my voice, necessarily, but certainly my musical vision.”
The song will be released as the film’s single, and will be played over the end credits.
As an aside, I’d asked Ben to perform Sand at a show in 2005. He gave it a good go, but had forgotten much of the song and gave up half through it. I’m glad to see that the song will finally see the light of day in some form.
Now, wouldn’t it be fantastic if he’d recruit Angie to do the vocals?!
